We have only been in the Academy for a few months. I was reflecting this week on what an amazing learning space it is with so much information and support from Sarah as well as from other members. It is such a space space with no judgement and with so much respect for both Sarah and other members throughout their wins and challenges. Congratualtions on what you have created Sarah Hedderly. Hi, I'm Sarah Hedderly

I’m a dog trainer and I specialise in working with owners of Border Collies, and their crosses.

I’m a Certified Control Unleashed Instructor, Real Dog Yoga instructor and Force Free Trick Trainer.

I know what it’s like to dream of having a dog you can take anywhere, enjoy walking and have an amazing bond with. Also that not all dogs make this easy!

My dogs have been my biggest teachers. Mini is a sensitive soul who needs her training broken down into the tiniest of steps. Ding is a child genius who needs clear direction and enough stimulation to keep his busy brain satisfied. Ding didn't like people so I had to work intensely with him to help him be comfortable in show environments. He has reached G5 in agility. Beau is a gift of a dog but easily tips into over arousal where he finds it more difficult to connect. Beau competes in both agility and obedience. Sparkles is my youngest who is at present struggling with her hormones in adolescence. She naturally has a lot of talent but her chase instinct is strong and so a lot of work is going into her foundations. She will hopefully compete in both agility and obedience when old enough.

Prior to competing my dogs I have also competed horses in both Show Jumping and Dressage. I enjoy competing with my animals as I find the relationship grows with the training. However competing brings up all the emotions and so to enjoy it fully and compete to the best of our ability both ends of the lead need to be fully prepared both mentally and physically.

And most of all it is important to have fun along the way as teamwork makes the dream work.
